SUMMARY

The Deal

Hannah Wells might be confident, but she's carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush's attention, she'll have to step out of her comfort zone...even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team, Garrett Graham, in exchange for a public pretend date. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of their lives, it doesn't take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn't going to cut it.

The Mistake

For college hockey star John Logan, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins hides growing despair about the dead-end road he'll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he's worth a second chance. But this time around, she'll be the one in the driver's seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

The Score

Wild rebound sex after a breakup is definitely not the solution to Allie Hayes's problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as hell won't include the king of one-night stands. Dean has never met a woman who's immune to his charms…until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world―and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It's not over until he says it's over.

The Goal

College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn't include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she's willing to give John Tucker…but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.

The Legacy

Four stories. Four couples. Three years of real life after graduation…

A wedding. A proposal. An elopement. And a surprise pregnancy.

Can you guess which Off Campus couple is which?

OPINION

Okay, let’s talk about the Off-Campus hockey, college based series.

Each book follows a specific couple (a player from the hockey team, and a gal attending the university). Each of them comes with their own trauma and baggage as they navigate their attraction for each other and deal with the problems that life throws at them, ultimately falling in love with each other, dealing with more issues, and living happily ever after - sort of.

As a whole, I really enjoyed this series and its final novella at the end. I liked the couples for the most part but I also liked the conflicts they struggled with and dealt with. Some of which I could relate to. The romance and spice was great - wasn’t the biggest fan of all the dirty talk. Got a bit cringy at times. There were some cheesy aspects to it, and certain characters I was rolling my eyes at, but overall it gets a thumbs from me.

I think the only book/couple I didn’t like was Logan/Grace. Idk… it was just random, and slightly uncomfortable to me. They meet by random chance when Logan knocks on her door at her dorm which is the wrong location, and then he ends up hanging out with her and they fool around. Maybe it’s because I prefer a slow burn, so it just throws me off when the couple first meets and gets right down to it. Plus, the whole situation where Logan was using Grace as a distraction essentially wasn’t great either. Their relationship wasn’t exactly built on the greatest foundation and boy had to fight hard to get her back.

The fourth book was my least favorite in terms of story, because we got the surprise pregnancy trope. Not my favorite type of romance to read. I liked the leads and how they built their life towards the end, but kind of hated how there wasn’t a whole lot of communication between the two till the very end when they cleared the air between them. Also, another trope I hate - miscommunication. JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER

And then for the 5th book, we had the novella that featured all four couple a few years later after college. Some got married, went on their honeymoon, got engaged, had a baby. Overall, I really liked the novella. I liked how they all still had problems to deal with or new issues came up that strained their relationship with each other, and how they worked to fix it. A fluffy, low conflict romance is okay, but I really like when trouble brews and see how our leads work to solve it, especially when the problems can be relatable to the reader.

I understand that some people might not like this type of series, given there can be quite a few triggers with it, or they prefer to read something that’s not relatable and can take their mind off their own problems and struggles. But I personally appreciate these types of romances, because at the end of the day, it makes me feel less alone with my struggles. And as I read about these characters working through their traumas and conflicts, it sometimes gives me the courage or motivation to work on mine as well.
